The HSMV 82260 is one car's paperwork. A 20-second read on your lot, and the tax-and-fee math for the whole deal — built for dealers, no signup. Free calculators dealers actually use — no signup, no email.
DealerVLO fills the official Florida HSMV 82260 straight from your deal: on a buy-here-pay-here note your dealership carries, the BHPH ledger prints it with Motor Vehicle checked, the VIN, year, body type code, color (when it fits the 8-character box) the make as its 4-character NCIC code, the registered owner(s) last name first with the buyer's address, your dealership as first lienholder with its address, the Lien Satisfaction Date from the last payment on the ledger (blank until the note shows paid off), and your name in the certification. The lien date (it has to match the title), title number, date of issue, second-lienholder block, and the agent's title and signature stay blank. $29/month, free to try — cancel any time.
HSMV 82260 is Florida's Lien Satisfaction form. If you run buy-here-pay-here, you're the first lienholder on every note you carry, so when the customer makes the final payment it's on you to satisfy the lien: on the title, on this form, or electronically if the lien is in Florida's ELT system. Florida puts hard deadlines on it in Fla. Stat. § 319.24.
The other side matters too. When you take a trade-in with a loan on it, Florida law says you have to pay that lien off within 10 working days, and then the trade's lender, not you, satisfies it. This guide walks the 82260 box by box from the dealer's seat, then covers the deadlines, ELT liens, and what goes where.
The form's title is just "Lien Satisfaction"; people search it as the Florida lien release form. The current revision is HSMV 82260 (REV.07/11). It's one page: a vehicle-type checkbox, the vehicle and registered owner, a first lienholder block, a second lienholder block, and a certification signed under penalty of perjury. FLHSMV procedure TL-33 says a recorded lien is removed with either the lien satisfaction section on the front of the title or this form.
You sign this as the lienholder and send it to FLHSMV; the owner gets the title. Have these in hand before your agent signs.
TL-33 gives two ways to remove a recorded paper lien: complete the lien satisfaction section on the front of the title, or complete the HSMV 82260. If the lien was recorded through Florida's Electronic Lien and Title (ELT) program, neither applies. The lienholder releases it electronically, through its ELT service provider, and TL-33 tells offices to reject an 82260 or a satisfaction letter presented for an ELT lien. If you're carrying notes through an ELT provider, release them there.

Check one box: Motor Vehicle, Mobile Home, Off-Highway Vehicle, or Vessel. Then the title number, the VIN, year, make/manufacturer, body type, and color, and the title's date of issue. The boxes are short: the make box holds four characters and body type and color hold eight each, so use the abbreviations from the title. Copy everything from the title so it matches the record.

The registered owner's name, last name first, and the owner's street address, city, state and ZIP. With two owners on the title, list both the way the title shows them. The form's closing note says the lienholder must complete the name and address of the owner(s), so don't leave this for the customer.

On a BHPH note your dealership is the first lienholder. Enter the Lien Date, the Lien Satisfaction Date, and your name and address. The form says the date of lien must be the same as the date shown on the title certificate, so read it off the title rather than your deal file. Leave the second lienholder block blank unless there's a second lien being satisfied on the same form. If your dealership holds both liens and only one is being satisfied, the form says not to use a PAID stamp or perforation; complete the space for the lien being satisfied.

The lienholder acknowledges satisfaction and declares under penalties of perjury that the facts are true. Fill in the First Lienholder Name, print the authorized agent's title, and have that agent sign. TL-33 says a computer-generated signature on a lien satisfaction is not acceptable, and FLHSMV takes the original 82260 or a certified copy only. No email, fax, or photocopy. A lienholder with an FLHSMV permit can use a perforation or a PAID stamp instead; without a permit number, the stamp has to carry the lienholder's name, the word "Paid," the satisfaction date, and the complete signature of the authorized representative.

Fla. Stat. § 319.24(5)(a): a lienholder receiving final payment must mail or deliver a lien satisfaction and the title showing the satisfaction within 10 working days, or tell the person who paid that the title isn't available. If you can't produce the title, you still provide the satisfaction and you pay for the duplicate title, fast title charges included. § 319.24(5)(b): you enter the satisfaction on the face of the title, deliver the title to the person satisfying the lien, and forward an executed satisfaction on the department's form to FLHSMV within 10 days. The 82260 itself says to mail it to the Division of Motorist Services in Tallahassee within 10 days after final payment (30 days for vessels). Ignore a customer's demand and you're liable for their costs, damages, and attorney fees if you haven't furnished the satisfaction within 30 days; ignore a certified-mail demand from FLHSMV for 10 days and it's a second-degree misdemeanor (§ 319.24(7)).

§ 319.24(5)(a) says a motor vehicle dealer acquiring a vehicle with an outstanding purchase money lien must pay and satisfy that lien within 10 working days of acquiring ownership. Paying it off is your job; satisfying it is the lender's. If the trade's lien is electronic, the lender releases it through ELT. If it's paper, you're waiting on the signed title or the lender's satisfaction. Out-of-state lienholders on a Florida title can send a satisfaction on letterhead, and TL-33 says that signature doesn't have to be notarized.

FLHSMV can't release an electronic lien on paper, and TL-33 says to reject the form. Release it through your ELT provider.
The form says the date of lien must be the same as the title certificate. Copy it from the title, not from your contract date.
TL-33 accepts the original 82260 or a certified copy only, and a computer-generated signature isn't acceptable.
A stamp or perforation removes all liens. Complete the space for the one lien being satisfied instead.
§ 319.24(5)(b) has you enter the satisfaction on the face of the title and deliver the title to the person who paid, in addition to sending the 82260 to FLHSMV.
The form and § 319.24 both put it at 10 days from final payment (10 working days for the satisfaction and title to the payer).
HSMV 82260 is FLHSMV's Lien Satisfaction form. The lienholder lists the vehicle, the registered owner, and the lien and satisfaction dates, and an authorized agent signs under penalty of perjury that the lien is satisfied. The current revision is REV.07/11. It's one of two ways TL-33 gives to remove a paper lien; the other is the lien satisfaction section on the front of the title.
Fla. Stat. § 319.24(5)(a) gives a lienholder 10 working days after final payment to deliver a lien satisfaction and the title (or say the title isn't available). § 319.24(5)(b) and the form itself say the executed satisfaction goes to FLHSMV within 10 days. For vessels, the form allows 30 days.
The HSMV 82260 has no notary block. The agent signs under penalty of perjury. TL-33 does require an original or certified copy with a real signature: no computer-generated signature, and no email, fax, or photocopy. For an out-of-state lienholder's letterhead satisfaction, TL-33 says the signature doesn't have to be notarized.
No. TL-33 says the lienholder is responsible for releasing an ELT lien electronically, and FLHSMV can't release an ELT lien even with a paper satisfaction. Offices are told to reject the 82260 in that case.
The form says to mail it to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Division of Motorist Services, Neil Kirkman Building, 2900 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, Florida 32399, within 10 days after final payment for motor vehicles.
If the owner demands a satisfaction and you don't furnish it within 30 days, § 319.24(5)(a) makes you liable for their costs, damages, and reasonable attorney fees in a suit to cancel the lien. If FLHSMV demands the document by certified mail and you don't forward it within 10 days, § 319.24(7) makes it a second-degree misdemeanor.
The trade's lender. § 319.24(5)(a) requires a dealer that acquires a vehicle with an outstanding purchase money lien to pay it off within 10 working days, but the satisfaction comes from the lienholder: electronically for an ELT lien, or on the title, an 82260, or (out of state) its letterhead for a paper lien.
