BHPH Payment Tables

Weekly, bi-weekly and monthly payment per $1,000 financed, the finance charge per $1,000, and daily interest per $1,000 of balance, at 8% to 30% APR over 12 to 48 months. Desk a buy-here-pay-here note without a calculator, or check the one you have.

How to read the tables

Find your APR row and your term column, then multiply the figure by the amount financed in thousands. For example, $7,500 financed at 18% over 24 months:

  • Weekly: 7.5 × $11.4662 = $86.00 a week for 104 weeks.
  • Monthly: the same note is $374.43 a month for 24 months.
  • Finance charge: $1,443.66 paid weekly versus $1,486.34 paid monthly. Weekly pays principal down a little sooner, so it carries slightly less interest at the same APR.
  • Daily interest: $3.70 a day on the full $7,500, the figure to add per day when you quote a payoff.

The tables round each figure to the cent, so multiplying a table figure can land a few cents off the exact payment; the example uses the unrounded factor. It uses round numbers to show the arithmetic, not a typical rate or term. What you may charge is set by your state's usury and retail-installment laws. For your exact numbers, use the free BHPH payment calculator.

Daily interest per $1,000 of balance

Balance × APR ÷ 365. Multiply by the remaining balance in thousands to get the per-diem for a payoff quote, then add it for each day until the funds arrive. The BHPH payoff calculator does the whole payoff.

How these tables are computed

  • Formula: Level payment = P × r ÷ (1 − (1 + r)^−n), where P is $1,000, r is the APR divided by payments per year (52, 26 or 12) and n is the number of payments in the term.
  • Finance charge: Payment × number of payments − $1,000, before rounding the payment to the cent. On a real note the payment is rounded and the last payment absorbs the difference of a few cents.
  • Payment counts: A term in months converts to weekly payments at 52 a year and bi-weekly at 26 a year, so 24 months is 104 weekly or 52 bi-weekly payments.
  • What's left out: Taxes, fees, add-ons and an odd first period (a first payment due sooner or later than one full period) all change the real numbers. Late or partial payments change the balance and the interest.
  • Not a statement of typical rates: The APR rows are a grid to read from, not a survey of what dealers charge. State usury and retail-installment laws cap the rate and fees you may charge, and the Truth in Lending Act requires the APR and finance charge disclosed on the contract.
  • Reproducible: Any financial calculator gives the same figures. Spot checks: $1,000 at 18% over 24 monthly payments is $49.92 a month; at 12% over 36 months it's $33.21.
