If you carry your own paper, the software decision is bigger than it is for a cash lot. Your DMS isn't just printing the deal. It's the ledger your income runs through for the next two or three years, one payment at a time. Pick wrong and you find out the hard way: a payment posted to the wrong account, a customer who swears they paid, a Monday morning where nobody can say who's behind.

So this is the buy here pay here software comparison I'd want if I were shopping today. It covers what each system actually includes for in-house notes, what each one costs as listed on the vendor's own pricing page, and who each one fits. *Full disclosure: I run a used-car lot in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, and I built DealerVLO, one of the products on this list. Weigh my take accordingly. Every competitor price below was checked on that vendor's own pricing page on September 30, 2026, and linked so you can check it yourself.*

![Lowest listed monthly price for a dealer software plan that includes buy here pay here, as of September 30, 2026: DealerVLO $29, Desk2Deal Starter $79, Lot Wizard Pro Solo $99, Frazer Desktop $129, and DealerCenter $149 for the DMS plus the BHPH module.](/images/post/best-buy-here-pay-here-software/1)

## The short answer

- **Best for a small lot that wants BHPH in the same system as everything else:** **DealerVLO, $29 a month flat.** It covers payment schedules, a per-note ledger and a collections view, plus inventory, the deal jacket, your state's title paperwork, e-signatures, the website and listing feeds, with unlimited users.
- **Best for a big BHPH portfolio that wants payments, bureau reporting and texting in one module:** **DealerCenter**, $99 DMS + **$50 a month** BHPH module.
- **Best for a desktop lot that wants accounting included:** **Frazer**, **$129 a month** Desktop, with BHPH and a full accounting suite in the plan.
- **Best BHPH feature depth at a mid price:** **Lot Wizard**, with BHPH built into Pro at no extra cost, from **$99 a month** for one user.
- **Not a DMS, but worth knowing:** **AutoZoom** sells underwriting scoring models for BHPH dealers. It's a decision tool you'd use alongside your DMS, and pricing is by phone.

If you only remember one thing: the question isn't "does it do BHPH." They all say yes. The question is how much of the BHPH *job* each one does, and what you pay for the parts it doesn't.

## What BHPH software actually has to do

Before comparing vendors, get clear on the job. A BHPH book lives or dies on collections, and collections live or dies on knowing, every morning, exactly who owes what. If you haven't run notes before, my guide to [how to run a buy here pay here dealership](/blog/how-to-run-a-buy-here-pay-here-dealership) walks through the whole loop. The software side of it comes down to six things.

![Six jobs buy here pay here software has to do: build the payment schedule from the deal, post every payment to the right note, show who is past due and by how much, show what is due this week, keep the contract and disclosures with the deal, and roll every note into one portfolio total.](/images/post/best-buy-here-pay-here-software/2)

- **The schedule comes from the deal.** Amount financed, rate, term, payment frequency and first due date go in once, and the schedule builds itself. If you're typing the deal into one program and the note into another, that's two chances to get it wrong.
- **Every payment lands on the right note.** With a date and an amount, and a place for a note like "paid cash at the window, short $20."
- **Past due is obvious.** Who's behind, by how much, and for how many days, sorted so the worst accounts are on top.
- **This week is obvious too.** What's due today and this week, so the collections calls happen before the account goes late, not after. (My notes on [keeping BHPH accounts current](/blog/bhph-keeping-accounts-current-payment-cadence) cover why early and light beats late and heavy.)
- **The paper stays with the deal.** Contract, disclosures and the application, filed where you'll find them when a customer disputes something two years from now.
- **One number for the whole book.** Total outstanding, total collected, total past due. That's your real balance sheet.

Everything past those six is a real feature, but it's a feature for a bigger operation: online customer payments, automated recurring payments, credit bureau reporting, late-fee handling, collection letters, a related finance company, full accounting.

<ToolCallout tool="bhph-note" />

Here's how DealerVLO handles the six. You structure the note on the deal: amount financed, APR, term, and weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly or monthly payments. DealerVLO builds the schedule, and you record each payment against it with the date, the amount and a note. The Collections screen rolls every in-house note into one portfolio view: active notes, past-due dollars, delinquent notes, what's due this week, outstanding balance and total collected. It sorts the most overdue accounts to the top, with the buyer's phone number on the row. The deal also carries the retail installment contract with the federal Truth in Lending disclosure box. Have your attorney check it against your state's rules, as you would any contract.

## What each one includes and costs

This is the cheapest plan from each vendor that includes BHPH, as listed on the vendor's own page.

| Software | Lowest price with BHPH | What the BHPH side includes (as listed) | Checked on |
|---|---|---|---|
| **DealerVLO** | **$29 / month, unlimited users** | **Payment schedule from the deal, per-note ledger, Collections portfolio view; website and feeds in the same plan** | — |
| [Desk2Deal](https://desk2deal.com/pricing) Starter | $79 / month | "Financing / BHPH loans" listed on Starter; 3 users, 50 deals a month, 50 cars | Sept 30, 2026 |
| [Lot Wizard](https://lotwizard.com/buy-here-pay-here/) Pro Solo | $99 / month (1 user) | BHPH "built-in and does not cost extra": daily simple interest, online payments, receipts, late fees, letters, optional Metro 2 bureau file | Sept 30, 2026 |
| [Frazer](https://www.frazer.com/frazer-pricing) Desktop | $129 / month ($1,299 / year prepaid) | Buy Here Pay Here and a full accounting suite in the plan; Hosted from $199 | Sept 30, 2026 |
| [DealerCenter](https://www.dealercenter.com/pricing/) | $99 DMS + $50 BHPH module = $149 / month | Portfolio management, credit bureau reporting via Datalinx, automated recurring payments, 500 texts, related finance company | Sept 30, 2026 |
| [AutoZoom](https://autozoom.com/) | Call for pricing | Underwriting scoring models and BHPH analytics; not a DMS | Sept 30, 2026 |

What a year costs at list price, for the cheapest BHPH-capable plan:

- **DealerVLO, $348.** $29 × 12. The dealer website and listing feeds are in the same plan.
- **Desk2Deal Starter, $948.** $79 × 12 ($63 a month billed annually). A fourth user, a 51st car or a 51st deal in a month means overage or a move to Professional at $149.
- **Lot Wizard Pro Solo, $1,188.** $99 × 12 for one user. Partner (up to 3 users) is $129. Lot Wizard sells document printing as form credits ($70 for 20 deals), so budget for those too.
- **Frazer Desktop, $1,548**, or **$1,299** prepaid for the year. Accounting is in the price. A website isn't.
- **DealerCenter, $1,788.** $149 × 12, before a website ($99 a month for Premium Website) or listing feeds ($50 for Online Ad Post Premium).

Detail on every plan lives in my separate breakdowns of [DealerCenter](/blog/dealercenter-pricing-explained), [Frazer](/blog/frazer-pricing-explained), [Lot Wizard](/blog/lot-wizard-pricing-explained) and [Desk2Deal](/blog/desk2deal-pricing-explained) pricing.

## The same job on each system

Same small BHPH lot, same needs. Here's which plan covers each one. "Not listed" means the vendor's pricing page doesn't say, so ask.

| What a BHPH lot needs | DealerVLO | Desk2Deal | Lot Wizard | Frazer | DealerCenter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Payment schedule + ledger | **$29** | Starter $79 | Pro, included | Desktop, included | +$50 module |
| Past-due / collections view | **$29** | Not listed | Pro, included | Not listed | +$50 module |
| Online customer payments | No | Not listed | Pro, included | Not listed | +$50 module (recurring payments) |
| Credit bureau reporting | No | Not listed | Pro, Metro 2 file (optional) | Not listed | +$50 module (Datalinx) |
| Full accounting | P&L only | Not listed | Not listed | Desktop, included | +$99 module |
| Your state's title paperwork | **$29** | Not listed | Form credits | Forms printing included | Free forms library |
| Dealer website | **$29** | Starter (shows 25 cars) | +$110 (Solo package, with feeds) | Not in plan | +$99 module |
| Users | **Unlimited** | 3 on Starter | 1 on Solo | Not listed | Unlimited |
| Starting monthly price | **$29** | $79 | $99 | $129 | $149 |

Two things jump out. First, the BHPH basics (schedule, ledger, past-due view) are table stakes, and you shouldn't pay a premium for them. Second, the big-book features (online payments, bureau reporting, accounting) are where the money goes, and they're worth it only if you're carrying enough notes to need them.

## Where DealerVLO is the better fit

I built DealerVLO to run my own lot, and in-house notes were part of the reason. Here's where it fits best:

- **You carry a modest book and want it in the same system as the rest of the store.** The note starts on the deal, the schedule builds from the deal, and the Collections screen shows the whole portfolio. There's no second program and no re-keying.
- **You want the deal math right before the note exists.** The deal jacket computes totals, trade equity, payment and front-end and F&I gross as you type. The FTC Buyers Guide and your state's title and registration paperwork fill from the same deal: the official state PDF where DealerVLO fills it, and a print-ready worksheet where your state issues the form through a portal. E-signatures are built in.
- **You want to know what each car really made.** Reconditioning costs go in line by line and roll into each car's all-in cost, every car shows its days in inventory, and the P&L takes your overhead out of gross. On a BHPH lot, where the cash comes in slowly, knowing the real cost of the car you just financed matters more, not less.
- **You don't want to pay for seats.** Users are unlimited, so whoever takes payments at the window gets their own login.
- **You want the website without a second vendor.** Inventory posts to your dealer website automatically. It can carry a Financing page with an optional online credit application, which deliberately doesn't collect Social Security numbers, and listing feeds go to CarGurus, Cars.com and Autotrader once you enroll with each.

<ProductShot name="deal-jacket" />

That's all on one plan: **$29 a month, unlimited users, no BHPH module fee.** The [buy here pay here software](/buy-here-pay-here-software) page has the full rundown.

## Where something else is the better fit

Fair is fair. DealerVLO's BHPH side is built for the basics done well, not for a large finance operation. Pick something else if:

- **You need customers to pay online or on autopay.** DealerVLO records payments you take. It doesn't process them. Lot Wizard lists online payments in Pro, and DealerCenter's BHPH module lists automated recurring payments.
- **You report to the credit bureaus.** DealerCenter's module includes Datalinx credit bureau reporting, and Lot Wizard lists optional Metro 2 file creation. DealerVLO doesn't report to the bureaus, and it doesn't pull credit.
- **You want interest figured daily, late fees assessed and letters generated.** Lot Wizard lists daily simple interest, late fees and a collection-letter writer. DealerVLO builds a fixed payment schedule from the rate and term, and it doesn't assess late fees or text customers.
- **You want full accounting in the same box.** Frazer includes a full accounting suite in the $129. DealerVLO has a P&L but doesn't connect to outside accounting software.
- **You run a related finance company or sell notes.** DealerCenter's module lists related finance company management, and Lot Wizard lists an export for BHPH finance companies.
- **You want help deciding who to approve.** That's AutoZoom's lane: scoring models built for BHPH underwriting. Whatever software you use, write your approval policy down first. My [BHPH underwriting criteria](/blog/bhph-underwriting-approval-criteria) post covers how.

If your book is big enough that any of those is a must-have, a $29 system will cost you more in workarounds than it saves. If it isn't, you'd be paying for a finance department you don't run yet.

## How to choose: questions to ask every vendor

![Six questions to ask a buy here pay here software vendor: is BHPH included or an add-on module, how is interest calculated, can customers pay online, do you report to credit bureaus, how do my open balances and payment history move over, and what does it cost per user and as the book grows.](/images/post/best-buy-here-pay-here-software/3)

- **Is BHPH in the plan, or a module?** Get the module price in writing if it's separate.
- **How is interest calculated?** Daily simple interest and a fixed amortized schedule give different payoffs when a customer pays early or late. Know which one your contract and your software use, and make sure they match. The free [BHPH payoff calculator](/tools/bhph-payoff-calculator) and my walkthrough of [how to calculate a BHPH payoff](/blog/how-to-calculate-bhph-payoff) show the math.
- **Can customers pay online, and who pays the processing fee?**
- **Do you report to the bureaus, and is that included?**
- **How do my open notes move over?** This is the one that bites. Ask exactly how balances, payment history and next due dates come across, and what it costs. In DealerVLO, CSV import brings inventory and customers. Each open note gets set up on its deal, and the schedule builds from the amount financed, rate, term and next due date. That's quick for a small book. For a big one, ask any vendor for a conversion quote.
- **What does it cost per user and at twice the notes?** Price the lot you'll be in two years, not the one you're in today.

Then run a real deal in the trial: structure a note, post three payments, miss one, and see whether the past-due view tells you what you'd want to know on a Monday morning. My guide to [choosing dealer management software](/blog/how-to-choose-dealer-management-software) has the full trial checklist, and the [best DMS for independent dealers](/blog/best-dms-independent-used-car-dealers) ranks the whole field by fit.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is buy here pay here software?

Buy here pay here (BHPH) software runs the notes a dealer carries in-house. At minimum it builds the payment schedule from the deal (amount financed, rate, term, and payment frequency), keeps a ledger of every payment against every note, and shows which accounts are past due. Bigger BHPH systems add online customer payments, credit bureau reporting, late-fee handling, collection letters and full accounting. Most independent dealers get BHPH as part of their dealer management system rather than as a separate product.

### What is the best BHPH software for a small used-car lot?

It depends on the size of your book. For a small lot carrying a modest number of notes that wants BHPH in the same system as inventory, deals, paperwork and the website, DealerVLO fits at $29 a month flat with unlimited users. If you carry a large portfolio and need online customer payments, credit bureau reporting or a related finance company, look at DealerCenter's $50-a-month BHPH module (on top of its $99 DMS), Lot Wizard's built-in BHPH, or Frazer, where BHPH and a full accounting suite are included in the $129-a-month Desktop plan.

### How much does buy here pay here software cost?

As listed on each vendor's pricing page on September 30, 2026, the lowest price for a plan that includes BHPH is $29 a month for DealerVLO, $79 for Desk2Deal Starter, $99 for Lot Wizard Pro Solo (one user), $129 for Frazer Desktop, and $149 for DealerCenter ($99 DMS plus the $50 BHPH module). Underwriting-scoring tools such as AutoZoom don't publish prices. Confirm a written quote before you sign, because vendors change prices.

### Do I need separate BHPH software, or a DMS with BHPH built in?

For most independent lots, a DMS with BHPH built in. The note starts on the deal, so when the schedule, the contract, the customer and the car all live in one system, nobody re-keys the deal into a second program. A separate tool makes sense for a specialized job your DMS doesn't do, such as an underwriting scoring model.

### What does DealerVLO include for $29 a month?

Everything, on one plan with unlimited users: the deal jacket with live deal math, BHPH payment schedules and a collections view, federal forms and your state's title and registration paperwork filled from the deal, e-signatures, inventory with VIN decode and photos, per-car reconditioning cost and margin, days-in-inventory and an aging report, a sales report and P&L, a dealer website that shows your cars, and listing feeds to CarGurus, Cars.com and Autotrader once you enroll with each. There's a 14-day free trial.

### Can I move my existing BHPH accounts into new software?

Ask every vendor exactly how they move open balances and payment history, because conversions vary. In DealerVLO, CSV import brings over inventory and customers, but not loan balances or payment history; you set up each open note on its deal, and the schedule builds from the amount financed, rate, term and next payment date. For a small book that's an afternoon. For hundreds of notes, ask for a conversion quote from whoever you pick.

## Bottom line

For most small independent lots, the right BHPH software is the DMS you already need, with notes built in, not a second system. DealerVLO does the BHPH basics (schedule, ledger and a collections view of the whole book) inside the same $29 plan that runs your inventory, deals, paperwork and website, with unlimited users and no module fee. If your book has grown to where online payments, bureau reporting or full accounting are must-haves, DealerCenter's module, Lot Wizard and Frazer earn their higher price. Just price the whole stack, in writing, before you sign.
